The Weight I Refused to Carry Any Longer

Over the last few years, I gained weight, both physically and emotionally. The relentless witch hunt and invasion of my family’s privacy took an immense toll, and slowly, my health began to decline. I felt drained, heavy, and clouded.

It wasn’t just the kilos I was carrying; it was the stress, the judgment, the whispered lies, and the endless noise that followed me everywhere. It wrapped itself around me like a second skin. I knew deep down that if I didn’t make a change, I would lose myself completely, and if I allowed that to happen, then those who tried to destroy me would win. I couldn’t, and wouldn’t, let that be my story.

That’s when life handed me something unexpected. A wonderful Spanish friend of mine—gracias, Laura—introduced me to a book: Fast Like a Girl by Dr. Mindy Pelz. At first, I thought it was just another health book, another set of rules to follow, but it wasn’t. It became a lifeline, a bridge from the fog I was in, toward the clarity I was searching for, that was the beginning of my fasting journey.

Since then, the physical transformation has been real; I’ve lost more than a few kilos, but that’s not the part that matters most, what I have gained means so much more. I’ve rebuilt my physical strength. I’ve rediscovered energy I thought I’d lost forever. and most importantly, I’ve found a sense of mental clarity. For the first time in years, my mind feels sharp, my body feels lighter, and my soul feels balanced.

Dr. Mindy’s work helped me to understand something profound: our bodies don’t just need fuel; they need rhythm, awareness, and balance. It’s not about punishment or restriction. It’s about learning to listen and honouring what your body needs at the right time, and with that shift, I haven’t just restored my health, ’ve reclaimed my strength, both physical and emotional.

Today, I can say with honesty that I am lighter in body and stronger in spirit. I am not just happy, I am joyful. That joy comes from knowing that I did not give up on myself, that I chose to rise, even when it would have been easier to give in.

If you are carrying excess weight right now, whether it’s on your body, in your mind, or in your heart, I want you to hear this: change is possible. You don’t have to keep carrying it all. My first step was fasting; yours might be different. Whatever your first step looks like, take it today, because the freedom of weight lost, clarity gained, and strength rediscovered is closer than you think.

This is a safe space for encouragement, growth, and resilience.
